Rehabilitation & Reconstruction of Tanks in the North with Rs 750 Million
Planning Coordinator of JAICA Hani Majoob and 5 others made an official visit to Jaffna. This delegation met the Chief Minister C.V.Wigneswaran and discussed above development in the north. They have been briefed the current agriculture development done and difficulties faced by farmers without repairing and reconstructing irrigation tanks in the North. This is being done as per Mahaweli development plan. Rs 750 million will be spent to rehabilitate and reconstruct abandon irrigation tanks in the north through JAICA.
This project scheduled to be completed before the end of this year. Chief Minister said agriculture is the capital of the north. In this discussion Northern Provincial council members and Officers of the water resources board participated.
