Although Money Paid For Hydepark by Vasudeva Nana…Availability is Doubtful

 

Observers say that various gimmicks are adopted by the Government Party men to prevent Pada Yathra crowd in one place and hold a meeting in Colombo on Monday, 1^st August. Right from the beginning Magistrate Courts in different Districts receive application from respective police to restrain Pada Yathra participants using roads. However, Magistrate Courts have given permission to Pada Yathra placing conditions.

MP Vasudeava Nanayakare said to have paid money to the Colombo Municipality and reserved the Hydepark ground for the Pada Yathra crowd to gather on Monday, 1^st August.

In the meantime, people observed that on several places on the grounds of Hydepark, excavation had been done under the pretext of rehabilitating and repairing the ground. Director of Sports and Entertainment of Colombo Municipality, Salika Ranaweera said, that municipal Engineer was informed in May to repair the grounds.

But the work has started recently. We will try our level best to complete repairs before 1^st August, if not it is our bounden duty to provide an alternative ground or refund the money. His statement is ambiguous.
