Government Spends Rs 50 Million Per Month on Each Minister – Anura Kumara Dissanayake

JVP Leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake while addressing a   meeting in Kurunegala District yesterday  said,  that  the Government  is spending  money in excess of  what was really required.  He alleged  that the government spends an average of Rs 50 million per month  on in respect of  each  Minister, which  included the Cabinet Ministers, State Ministers and the Deputy Ministers.
He said that the government added a provision to increase the number of Ministries to grant more perks to the politicians of both parties.
According to the 19th Amendment, there can be only 30 Cabinet Ministers. However, the main parties introduced an amendment so that they could increase the number of ministries, he recalled.
He also lashed  out at Minister of Agriculture Duminda Dissanayake and Minister of Regional Development ,Sarath Fonseka for lavishly  spending on  rent for their offices. Duminda Dissanayake rented an office for Rs 500 million per month and it is not even used. Fonseka rented an office for Rs 130 million per month, Anura Dissanayake claimed.
