Faizar Musthafa Orders to Remove All Unauthorized Structures in Dehiwala

 

In a meeting held at the Dehiwala Divisional Secretariat, it was brought to the notice of the Minister Faizar Musthafa, that on both side of the canal behind Dehiwala Hilda Housing Scheme, unauthorized structures have come up blocking smooth flow of water. Further it was brought to the notice of the Minister, that heavy traffic around Dehiwala Zoo during weekends disturbed the smooth life of the people there. Reason for this is said to be that vehicles which brings visitors to Dehiwala Zoo are parked on both sides of the road. Although a parking space was allocated in Sumudu Rajapakshe Mawatha, visitors find it difficult to locate the place. After listening to all complaints, he has ordered Mount Lavinia Municipal Commissioner to remove all unauthorized structures immediately. Further, he wanted the municipal officers to resolve parking problem in consultation with the zoo officials. In respect of Babul being sold to school children in Dehiwala area, Minister ordered the Police to arrest all sellers.  But the Police said Babul is not included under the dangerous drug control act. Minister requested that Babul should be brought under the dangerous drug control Act.
