Mahinda Deshapriya Organized a Programme to Create Awareness in Voting

Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya said that the importance  of exercising  franchise  will be  educated  specially to youths  through a programme commence today and will conclude on the 12th of August 2016 . During the period the Commission will educate the youth through interactive programmes.

He  said the programme will be channeled through a national social media campaign, where youth can create educational posts about the importance of the vote.

Mahinda Deshpriya said the primary objective is to encourage national youth lead organisations, networks and societies to engage in creating public awareness through creative and innovative ways. The seven day programme will be assisted by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and Youth Federation Clubs of Sri Lanka.
