Foreign Travel Restricted to Government Politicians

The president has decided to formulate a mechanism on foreign travel by people’s representatives and public servants.

All government politicians have been asked to obtain permission from President Maithreepala Sirisena two weeks in advance for foreign travel.

The president has given the directive in writing, noting that people’s representatives and public officials have a responsibility to use state funds with care.

Also, participation has been made mandatory for them at district and regional development coordinating meetings.
