Delayed Abduction Case : Finally Hirunika Indicted At Colombo High Court

On December 21, 2015,  a youth was abducted from his working place in broad day  light in presence of other workers.  Abductors used a defender jeep belongs to Hirunika  Premachandra. Reason for the abduction said to be a close relationship  abducted youth had developed with one of the abductor’s wife. Abductors were her security contingent.

Abducted youth was taken and produced before Hirunika. Youth  alleged that Hirunika had  threatened him.  News agencies quoted this incident then as Jungle Court of Hirunika . He was later released. She was arrested by Colombo Crime Division in January, and was released on bail.There was widespread condemnation then that the Government was blamed for not taking action against Hirunika. Joint opposition always criticized that  the Government is protecting Hirunika.

 Now comes the Attorney General filed indictment against UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra and eight of her supporters on 29 counts including abduction, threatening and intimidation.
