As Baahubali 2’s release date was announced recently by Karan Johar (April 28, 2017 in case you missed it), there was news the makers are trying to learn from the marketing strategy of Rajinikanth’s Kabali. While SS Rajamouli-directed Baahubali’s box office record was Rs 600 crore, Kabali has reportedly surpassed it with its worldwide collections.
Kabali was released on over 4,500 screens across the globe on July 22 and earned Rs 48 crore on the first day itself. While here it failed to breach Baahubali’s record that made Rs 50 crore on the opening day, it has been luckier elsewhere. Kabali was the fastest film to earn $1 million in US
Rajinikanth watched Kabali premiere with his fans in the US. The film then went on to collect $1.50 million in the paid preview shows held on the night of July 21 in the country. Baahubali’s record till then: $1,010,550.
Kabali was the number 1 Tamil movie
In USA, Norway, UAE, Malaysia and Australia, Rajinikanth’s Kabali emerged as all time number one film at the box office. It not only decimated Rajinikanth’s earlier records but Baahubali’s too.

Kabali is the fastest south Indian film to earn Rs 100 crore
Baahubali: the Beginning earned Rs 135 crore at the worldwide box office in two days. Rajinikanth’s Kabali earned Rs 150 crore in two days. Record broken.

Baahubali collected Rs 213 crore at the worldwide box office in five days. Rajinikanth film crossed that rubicon in just three day.
Kabali is highest earner in the international market
Baahubali earned about Rs 75 crore at the overseas box office while Kabali’s foreign eranings are a staggering Rs 259 crore.
