New MiG Fighter Air Crafts to Srilanka

A proposal made by President Maithripala Sirisena, in his capacity as the Minister of Defense, to obtain new fighter air crafts has been approved by the Cabinet.
 “The fighter air crafts of the Sri Lanka Air Force now used  have been aging and it is required to maintain them updated due to the importance of maintaining the oceanic security and being prepared for any unexpected threat.  To replace these  air crafts , MiG fighter air crafts numbering 8 to 12  need to be purchase.
The proposal made by the President to obtain expressions of interest from interested aircraft manufacturers, assistant manufacturers, and authorized government agents on the government  to government basis purchasing, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers,” the govt. announced.
