President Maithripala Sirisena issued the warning at yesterday’s (17) handover of appointment letters to 42 new electoral organizers at the President’s House. He said that 51 SLFP MPs who allegedly violate discipline and try to divide the party liable to lose their electoral organizer as well as parliamentary positions.
Speaking further, he said the SLFP-led UPFA would contest the upcoming local government polls under the ‘hand’s symbol.
President Sirisena said his main objective is to form a SLFP government in 2020.
Commenting on President decision, Mahinda told Neth FM, that the appointment of new organizers had fulfilled the opportunist needs of a certain group and voters, who had voted for the SLFP at the last general election have been betrayed. Further he said it was not a decision taken for the best interest of the party.
