Exorbitant Rs10 Per Litre Increase in Excise Duty on Gas oil & Diesel

Previous excise duty on gas oil and diesel was Rs 3 per litre. The Ministry of Finance said  that an Excise Duty of Rs 13 per litre has been imposed on Gas Oil and Diesel with effect from August 20.   The above Gazette Notification was issued under the Excise (Special Provisions) Act No. 13 of 1989, which is reproduced below:
