No Local Government Election this year – Prime Minister

A Joint Opposition delegation led by Dinesh Gunawardena met the Prime Minister in the Parliamentary complex yesterday, and requested him to take measures to conduct Local Government elections as early as possible. In this meeting Prime Minister has ruled out Local Government elections this year.  However PM was optimistic that the election could be conducted early next year, said Dinesh Gunawardena.
