Price of Arecanuts Falls Down

The price of arecanuts was between Rs. 320 and Rs. 350 a kilo in the recent past.

A concession given to traders for a five year period to export two kilos per every kilo purchased locally has now been withdrawn. The import price of a kilo of arecanuts is between Rs. 160 and Rs. 170.

Due to above reasons and as a result of stricter importation regulations, the price of arecanuts has fallen down to Rs. 250 per kilo.
