Unprotected and In completed Road Side pits pose Risk to Lives?

A Naval rating named, Thushantha Samarawickrama of 34 years old attached to Mullaitivu Navy, while getting down from a bus on the Kataragama depot road had accidentally fallen into a roadside pit, which was  dug for laying pipelines and the iron rods placed inside the pit had pierced his thighs.

The iron rods which had penetrated both thighs were successfully removed by a team of Medical Officers at the Hambantota General Hospital after a 45 minutes surgical operation.

 Public says, construction of this drains and manholes to connect sewerage system remains uncompleted. These uncompleted structures around Kataragama are causing much difficulty to the public.
