SLFP Not Taken a Decision to Continue With the Amalgamation – Dayasiri

Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara, commenting on the United National Party’s (UNP) proposal to continue the unity government even after 2020, said yesterday (10), the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has not taken a decision to continue with the amalgamation.

The minister said, “The President has very firmly said, at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) convention on 4 September in Kurunegala, that he would take every possible step to strengthen the SLFP so that we could form a government of our own. However, we would work together as a unity government during these five years to achieve the objectives of the mandate given by the people. As the SLFP, we have not taken such a decision as yet. Let’s see what the future has to offer.”
