Imthiaz Bakeer Markar Assumed Duties as the Chairman of National Information Center.

Former Minister of Media, Postal and Telecommunications Imthiaz Bakeer Markar has assumed duties as the Chairman of the National Information Center.

The Government Information Department said the former Kalutara District Parliamentarian will head the National Information Centre which received cabinet approval last month.

The officials at the National Information Centre, will coordinate official information and act as the government’s official media spokesperson.

The Centre is tasked with the provision of releasing reliable and accurate official information to public.

The Center will be established under a Patron Council comprising the President, Prime Minister and the Media Minister.
