2017 Budget to Parliament only after Maithree’s Approval?

It has been reported that the last Budget for the year 2016 was prepared and presented on policy decisions taken by the UNP and underwent several changes thereafter. This matter has been pointed out by the SLFP senior members to Maithree. In order to avoid such drawbacks, Maithree has appointed one committee led by Dr. Sarath Amunugama representing UPFA and another Committee led by Malik Samarawickrama representing UNP to make their contribution towards 2017 budget. Reports received revealed that the 2017 Budget should first be presented to the President Maithree for his approval before presenting it in Parliament by the Finance Minister.
