Government is Shivering on Mention of Formation of a New Political Party: Prasanna
The government is shivering whenever the Joint Opposition (JO) speaks about forming a new political party, parliamentarian and JO convenor Prasanna Ranatunga said.
Despite the oppressive tactics adopted by the government, the new political party will be definitely formed to send this government home, said Ranatunga while addressing a press conference at his Udugampola residence on Saturday to explain his position on the investigations made against him by the FCID following a complaint on the alleged misuse of Western Provincial Council funds amounting to Rs. 70 million.
If they wanted to learn a lesson on good governance., members of the government should study the manner in which he administered the Western Provincial Council during his stewardship as the Chief Minister.
He said he had never misused even a cent of the council funds because members of the Ranatunga family had always been above board and acted in a sincere and transparent manner with regard to the use of public funds.
Ranatunga said all funds belonging to the Council were used to serve the people.
He alleged the government was trying to put them in jail by framing false charges against them to prevent them from forming a rival political party with mass people participation.
