Why Army Still Occupies in Oluvil Ashraff City? – Supreme Court
In Ampara Addalaichenai Divisional Secretariat in Oluvil Ashraff city is located. Land belongs to 69 Muslim families were taken over by the Army. Ahamadu Lebbe Katheeja Ummah filed a case in Supreme Court seeking to return her land taken over by the Army. The Supreme Court bench comprised of Judges Sisira JD Abru, Anil Gunawardena and Prasanna S Jayewardene, raised the question why Army still continued to occupy this private Land? The bench ordered to look into the possibility of releasing villager’s land or provide alternate land to them and report back to the court. The case was postponed to October 17th2016.
