Electricity Tariffs to be increased or not to increase?

Ceylon Electricity Board has sought approval from Peoples Utility Commission to increase electricity tariffs by 5%. This is being under examination said the Peoples Utility Commission’s rates and economic division Director Kanjana Sriwardeana. Final decision will be taken only after obtaining the views of the Government and the people, he said. However, deputy minister of power and energy Ajith Perera ruled out increase in electricity tariffs.
