Will the Estate Workers Accept Wage Increase of Rs. 730?

Labour Relation Minister John Seneviratne said, in Parliament yesterday that the plantation companies have agreed to raise the daily wages of estate workers from Rs.650 to Rs. 730. Hence, he requested the workers to return to work without demonstrating and disturbing and the smooth operation of the estates. Minister further said, neither the UNP nor UPFA agreed or promised estate workers daily wage of Rs.1000. While most of the trade union have accepted daily wage increase of Rs. 730 a few trade unions are against it.

However, estate workers continue to demand daily wage of Rs.1000?
