Upcountry Tea Industry Collapsed Acknowledged by Ravindra

In a press conference held yesterday  State Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations Ravindra Samaraweera  acknowledged that the tea industry has collapsed in Srilanka.On being questioned about the on going strike by estate workers demanding wage increase to  Rs 1000  per day, he said most of the trade union agreed for a wage hike to Rs 730 per day but only a few did not affect this.

Further he said it was crystal clear that no company can pay Rs 1000 per day for a worker as the tea industry has collapsed.
