President Sirisena plans National food program

President Maithripala Sirisena met with representatives from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on the 23rd of June where he stated that it was the policy of the Government to make it possible for the business sector to work freely without interference. The President further stated that he is planning to implement a plan to strengthen the National economy through National food production. President Sirisena stated that he will use his 5 years of experience as Minister of Agriculture to create a National food programme where the National treasury can be strengthened and food imports can be minimized. He stated that the planned programme will benefit both farmers and the business sector with a direct positive impact on the country’s economy.
