New Bill to Replace PTA

A new bill drafted at international standard  has been sent to the cabinet office to be presented to the cabinet this week.

This new bill has been drafted after obtaining the views of the Law and Order Minister Sagala Radnayake, Heads of Army Navy and air force and IGP.

PTA was introduced during UNP regime and Srilanka has undertaken to the international community and the United Nation that the PTA would be removed from the law book .  Srilanka  Government proposed to introduce the new bill in place of PTA .

Critics  say some of the provisions in the PTA appears to have been included in the new bill.
