A special discussion is currently underway pertaining to the Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai.
Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy Dr. Suren Batagoda, Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board Anura Wijepala and several others are part of the group engaged in this discussion.
The discussion is being held with the intention of restoring the malfunctioned Norochcholai Coal Power Plant.
The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy revised the timetable issued for island-wide power cuts following the malfunction of the Lakvijaya Coal Power Plant in Norochcholai.
Accordingly, the supply of electricity will be restricted under eight phases for one hour between 8.30am and 6pm, and a further half an hour between 6pm and 10pm daily.
