INTERPOL Warrant Issued on Udyanga

Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) is investigating   financial fraud amounting to US$14 million caused by former Ambassador to Russian Udyanaga Weeratunga.  He is accused of having direct involvement   in a questionable transaction when procuring MiG-27 ground attack crafts for Sri Lanka.

 To facilitate  on going   investigation  , the FCID had previously sought to have a warrant issued through the INTERPOL but  the court had  turned down the request .

However, the Colombo Fort Magistrate this morning issued an INTERPOL warrant on Udyanaga Weeratunga
