Ban lifted on ‘Usaviya Nihandai’ Sinhala Film
Silence In The Court’ film was taken based on a true event by Prasanna Vithanage.
The District Court issued the order on October 5 considering a petition filed by Magistrate Lenin Rathnayake, who says that the film has damaged his reputation and that of the judiciary.
Eight respondents named in the petition yesterday argued as to why the order should be vacated, when the case was considered before Judge M.U. Gunawardena.
Colombo District Court fixed the order on whether to extend the injunction order against Prasanna Vithanage’s film ‘Usaviya Nihandai’ (Silence in the Court) on 21st October 2016.
When the case was taken up today for trial the Colombo District Court lifted the ban on Silence in the Court Sinhala film called ‘Usaviya Nihandai’
However , the case will be taken for inquiry on 19th January 2017.
