Thajudeen Murder – FR Application by Ananda Samarasekara Fixed for Hearing on 8th Feb 2017

Thajudeen was found dead on the 17th of May 2012 with initial investigations indicating his vehicle met with an accident down Park Road, Narahenpita.
Former Colombo Judicial Medical Officer Professor Ananda Samarasekara  has  filed Fundamental Rights petition against his arrest in connection with the  ongoing case of the murder of former Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.
 The Supreme court  has decided   to hear the FR petition  on  8th of February 2017. The Court decided to hear the case when the petition was taken up before a two bench panel comprising Chief Justice K Sripavan and Judge Priyantha Jayawardena.
The petitioner claimed that the Criminal Investigations Department is attempting to arrest him following an investigation launched by the CID. The officers attached to the CID previously informed Court that several missing remains of Wasim Thajudeen have been taken to a private medical university in Malabe. Accordingly, the CID informed court that the missing remains were taken by Former Colombo Chief JMO Ananda Samarasekara.
