Fund Readily Available but Approval of Minister Not forthcoming for School Development in Puttalam

One of the old boys of a National School in Puttalam District has come forward to fund the renovation of a swimming pool at his expenses. He was told by people concerned to undertake the renovation work on the swimming pool, that prior approval of a certain minister is a must. Hence, he tried to obtain his approval on more than 15 occasions.  But approval not yet been given.

Discreet inquires made by interested parties has revealed that the swimming pool was constructed during the previous regime with the help of a Minister. The minister now in charge of the subject was not invited then to the ceremony held to mark the opening of the pool. Hence, they suspect that latter is dogging his duty   in this connection.

The old boys discussing this matter ask themselves, the question “if it is so difficult to get something done with funds made readily available, how difficult would it be to get something done if seeking funds as well becomes necessary?”
