CSN Terrestrial Broadcasting Licence Cancellation Challenged

Carlton Sports Network Chief Rohan Welivita said that the Media Ministry has cancelled the licence stating that the CSN  has violated licence conditions unilaterally. However, no  charges were informed to the CSN.

Speaking to the media yesterday, he said that the issuing of the licence is done by the TRC. However, TRC does not know about this cancellation

Rohan Welivita vowed to fight back the decision taken  by the Media Ministry to cancel the terrestrial licence of the CSN through legal actions.

However, the authority  to issue  terrestrial broadcast  licence is  Ministry of Media. Tele Communication Regulatory Commission (TRC) is empowered to assign broadcast frequency only.
