Muslim Marriage & Divorce Act to be Amended to Fall in line with International Conventions

The proposal tabled by Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapakse states, the present Muslim marriage law that includes the minimum age limit and certain other criteria are not in accordance with international conventions.
Therefore the Minister in the Cabinet paper has called for the amendment of certain provisions.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal for the appointment of a Cabinet Sub-Committee to revise the country’s Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act.
