Disabled Soldiers to Stage a Protest Demonstration Today

The Government has undertaken to grant pension rights to Disabled soldiers who have counted less than 10 year service. A circular  had been issued in this connection.  But follow up action had not been taken in the past
On 30th July Disabled soldiers staged a protest demonstration demanding to implement the provision of this circular and grant them pension rights.  Minister of Irrigation and Agriculture  Duminda Dissanayake, who called over at the venue of protest demonstration accrued them action within three months period.
However, as no steps have been taken so far to grant them pension, they  carry  out  a protest demonstration  around Lotus Roundabout  causing heavy traffic jam. Entry road to Galle Face from Lotus Roundabout is closed. Police advised motorist to use alternate roads.
