Disable Soldiers Faced Water Cannons & Tear Gas

Police Sought   Court Order  to Prohibit  the protest march organized by the disabled soldiers opposite the Presidential Secretariat . But the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today refused to issue a stay order and informed the police to take necessary action if the protesters disturbed the public.

When the Protesters  not  heeding police request and try to enter Presidential  Secretariat , the police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse protesters. In the meantime after a brief discussion with the Presidential Secretariat  officers, on promise given that their pension  will be granted from February 2017, they dispersed.
