Cabinet Meeting to Discuss 2017 Budget Proposals

An urgent Cabinet meeting was called by the  President Maithripala Sirisena this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, ahead of the presenting of the 2017 Budget to Parliament.  The purpose is to discuss the budget speech which will be delivered by the Minister of Finance at around 2.00pm in the Parliament today (10). According to report, the basic framework of the budget proposal was  discussed in detail  during the meeting,.  Budget Speech (Second Reading of the 2017 Appropriation Bill) will be delivered by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, who says that the Budget will be a pro-growth budget,   which will focus on the deficiencies  caused  for the last several years. The Cabinet has approved the 2017 Budget proposal, according to reports.
