Udayanga Weeratunga’s Diplomatic Passport Issue in Parliament

Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake  questioned the foreign Minister as to what  steps had been taken in respect of diplomatic passport issued  to former Sri Lanka Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga, which has not been returned after he was removed from the post.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva responded saying the diplomatic passport belonging to Udayanga Weeratunga has been cancelled adding if he is still in possession of his diplomatic passport then it has to be a scam.

The Deputy Minister said he doubts he can use the diplomatic passport because they have informed the immigration department and relevant authorities.

Secondly, the Deputy Minister said he is in possession of a normal passport and travels to various countries using that passport
