Disclosure About ‘’AAVA’’ Group in Parliament

The ‘’AAVA’’   group has been accused of being involved in many violent incidents reported in the Jaffna district recently. The group has also circulated several handbills threatening to disrupt law and order in the district.
In response to an oral question raised in Parliament this morning, the Minister of Law and Order said, that law enforcement officials have identified 62 individuals attached to  ‘’AAVA’’  group.  Investigations are under way to arrest eight others involved with the group’s activities.
Minister of Law and Order Sagala Ratnayake today  revealed in Parliament that the government has arrested 38 persons attached to the so-called ‘AAVA Group’ in Jaffna.
Meanwhile State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene speaking in parliament today said, investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators.
The State Minister also revealed that an Army deserter was part of the so called ‘AAVA Group.”
