Hidden Hand Behind Converting Srilanka Sugar Company Loss into Profit

 

While most of the State enterprises continue to incur heavy losses, a few State enterprises have begun making profit under Good Governance Government. A case in point is that loss incurring CWE has now been converted into a profit making enterprise.
News reached our news desk disclosed, that once loss incurring Srilanka Sugar Company has now been converted into a profit making enterprise. The Srilanka Sugar Company Chairman Naveen Adikarama confirmed it and said, that SLSC recorded a loss of Rs.211 million during the financial year 2014, which loss was reduced to Rs.130 million in the year 2015. As for the first three quarters (9 months) in 2016, SLSC has recorded a profit of Rs.1, 018 million. Chairman Naveen was proud to announce this to the media. He further said, that the SLSC has purchased sugar cane 410,523 Metric Ton in 2014 and 557, 777 Metric Ton in the year 2015. During the first three quarters (9months) in current year 2016, it has purchased 562,067 Metric Ton and recorded a profit of Rs.1, 018 million. At the end of the financial year 2016, the SLSC will be able to achieve unprecedented profit said proud Chairman.
The Chairman of the SLSC emphasized that the credit for this achievement should go to the hidden hand, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen, who directed the SLSC in the right direction at the right time. If not for him, we could not have achieved this excellence. On his direction and guidelines we removed corruption and waste that was there for a long period.  Staff was motivated to increase their productivity. End result is that we achieved this profit, he concluded.
