32 Srilankans in IS – Wijedasa

Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksa said, there is a fear among Sri Lankans that  some citizens have joined the Islamic State(IS).

The government has for some time had intelligence groups engaged in operations overseas. Now information has been received that  32 Sri Lankans of 4 families of  Muslim origin have   left  for Syria to join the Islamic State(IS).

IS is comprised of  educated youths , an individuals of well-respected families.  He said those who left the island are now part of the IS in Syria.
