No Interference in FCID – Ranil
Parliamentarian Keheliya Rambukwella alleged that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, leads a committee appointed to examine complaints received and refer to FCID . This committee was appointed through Gazette notification.
Ranil is alleged to have selected cases of his choice to refer to FCID, thereby interfering with the operation with the FCID.
In response, Premier Wickremesinghe said all complaints have been directed to the Police FCID and the committee does gather even once a year adding that the complaints received that day were handed over to the Police.
He said some new complaints were also lodged afterwards at the FCID, CID and the commission, saying in addition to this the complaints which go to the office which runs separately has also informed the government that they forward the complaints to the Police. The committee has not met for a long time and he has not given any advice to the FCID on this matter.
