Will Maithri give MR nomination from UPFA?

The 6 member committee appointed by President Sirisena to coordinate with former President Mahinda Rajapakse was due to hand in report to the President yesterday (29) according to former MP W.D.J. Seneviratne. However insights into the President’s decision are yet to come into light. Committee member former MP T.B. Ekanayake stated that the President has agreed to give Mahinda Rajapakse nomination from the UPFA.

The UPFA Chief Secretary Susil Premajayantha who abroad on some state business has returned to the country and sources say he is of the mind that Mahinda Rajapakse should be given nomination. However SLFP deputy secretary Duminda Dissanayake stated that it is not a decision he can make alone.

It is also speculated that the President has stated that MR can enter the Parliament from the National List.

The decision will be very crucial in the future political framework of the country.
