Axe on Commissioner of Lands

Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs and Minister of Lands John Amaratunga is all out to remove Commissioner General  of Land ,R.P.R.Rajapaksha from his post .

Minister said,  followed by several complaints  received from public against the Land Commissioner,  Peoples representatives and complaints lodged with the  President and  Prime Minister,  he came to the decision to remove him. He proposed to appoint an interim Commissioner General  of Land until a permanent appointment is made.

A cabinet paper has been submitted in this connection.

In the past allegation was made in the media that the Minister of land was involved  in  irregular land transactions specially in Nuwara Eliya  district.
