Direct North South Dialogue

Northern Province Chief Minister , Wigneswaran   in a press conference  held yesterday  in Colombo said,   to resolve Tamil ethnic  issue federal based  Constitution is the only alternative. Self centered and   selfish politicians  cannot resolve people’ s problems. Hence, to  resolve Tamil  ethnic issue intellectuals   from   the North and South  should initiate  direct dialogue  for the common benefit of  the country. One should think  why LTTE came into the forum ? Root  cause   for it should be clearly  analysed and understood. If you analyse  and find solutions  for the root  cause , LTTE  won’t  resurrect again. But people in the South  concentrate  on destroying LTTE  and keep a check on their resurrection.  They don’t think  about the need  to find a solution  to the problem.
On question raised by the journalist  about  increasing  violence in the  North , Wigneswaran asked the journalist  how it was possible for mischief makers  to create violence in the North,  when there are 150 ,000 Army and considerable police force operating?  Army is searching for reasons  to continue  to stay in the North. People in the North strongly believes  that AAVA group is the creation of Army with political backing .  In May 2009  there was no drug  smuggling , no drug used or violence in the North . But now you find all these things.
In reply to the  question by journalist  of his position   regarding  commemoration of  Maveerar day,   he said  there is nothing wrong  to remember  death of a  loved one  or close relative  who died.  Kith and Kin of the death people observed this day with religious rites. Why you look this in a different manner?  He asked the journalist.
People in the North  look at the Army as an Army of occupation.  They grab private lands, houses and property of ordinary  people .  Further  they cultivate on fertile land captured from the people and sell the produce to them.  People in the South  should understand  the real situation in the  North and originate  direct dialogue   with the people in the North.
