State Institutions a Burden to the State- 600 B Loss
State Resources, Deputy Minister of State Enterprises Development Eran Wickramaratne in response to the question raised by UNP MP Buddhika Pathirana said, that more than 250 State Institutions continue to incur loss over 600 billion. Cancelling of the contract to acquire three aircraft caused loss of 14 billion. To arrest this situation Government intended to set up a state Enterprises Board to manage all State Institutions . This board will be empowered to appoint competent people to various Institutions. Their appointments will be made by following a procedure similar to how the Constitutional Council makes appointment, he concluded.
