Fire Crews Battle to Extinguish Bushfire at Mt Coolum, Southeast Queensland

Fire fighters  are battling to extinguish a bushfire that has forced the closure of one of southeast Queensland’s most recognizable natural landmarks.
A blaze that started in Mount Coolum this morning is continuing to burn despite the efforts of multiple crews from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
The vegetation fire is burning in the Mount Coolum National Park with aircraft beginning waterbombing operations in the area about 11.00am.
According to QFES the fire is posing no threat to properties at this time but nearby residents may be affected by a smoke haze and should be conscious of any medical conditions which may be affected by this.
Motorists have also been advised to drive with caution in the area.
It is unclear how the blaze initially started.
