Six thousand (6000) buses of the Srilanka SLTB were deployed on Friday 2nd November 2016 during strike launched by Private bus operators. Several buses were attacked with stones by saboteurs. In one case a soldier returning from duty and travelling on a SLTB bus was severely injured and admitted to the hospital.
The Police Headquarters said several police teams have been deployed to arrest the suspects, who threw stones . The government says it has received information that an anti-government force was behind the attack.
Followed by this 31 suspects have been arrested for attacking 128 buses belonging to the Sri Lanka Transportation Board during the private bus strike on Friday.
The Government Information Department said the suspects are residents of 11 areas.
The suspects will be produced in court on charges of disrupting the country’s peace and order, damaging public property and assaulting individuals.
