Mass Protests Planned by JVP to Restore Worker’s Rights

JVP politburo member K.D. Lal Kantha has visited striking Hambantota Port workers and joined in their  sathyagraha yesterday.
While addressing the media  , he stressed that until all temporary workers attached to the Ports Authority are absorbed into the permanent cadre in their respective positions the ongoing sathyagraha campaigns at the Colombo and Hambantota ports will be continued unabatedly.
Lal Kantha charged that the government has already dispensed with the fertilizer subsidy provided to farmers and warned that if the subsidy is not provided during the next fortnight farmers throughout the country will be brought to the streets.
The JVP has planned to organize a series of protests in all major cities and towns countrywide by  mobilizing  activists from such sectors as agriculture, fisheries, and harbour. Through these island wide   protest he  hopes  to regain lost  working rights.
