Though Lost Control Gemunu Continues as LPBOA Head
During the recent bus strike Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) head Gemunu Wijeratne challenged the other bus operators union Inter Provincial Private Bus Associations(IPPBO) stating that they have only 2,000 members and his association has 20,000 members . Hence, strike by a small group would not have any impact on bus transport on 2nd December 2016.
However, when strike was launched on 2nd December all private buses did not operate. Even Gemunu Wijeratne could not manage to engage even one of his bus. He had egg on his face.
In the aftermath, he offered to resign as President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA), but he was reappointed President for another year.
