Checks & Balances In signing Vehicle Lease Agreement for MPS

An agreement  is to be signed with the lesser,   who provides  vehicles to be used by Members of Parliament.    Secretary of the Ministry of Mass Media and Parliamentary Reforms Nimal Bopage is  a signatory to the agreement.

The Technological Assessment Committee, the Proclamation Committee  and the   President have  rejected the agreement. Under the circumstances, he is prepared to sign the agreement only after necessary amendments  and the approval by the Attorney General.

Considering the current  circumstances, the Secretary said, he cannot run the risk of signing such an agreement as a state official.
