Deadline to Magampura Port employees to Report for Duty
Port and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said, that all Magampura workers should report for duty before 2 pm today. If they do that he would arrange with the Chinese company to employ them. Those who fails to report for duty will be considered as vacating their employment .
The minister gave this ultimatum at a media conference last afternoon, after a discussion with representatives from the group of protesters.
The minister told the media that everything is in place to conduct port operations with effect from today.
The Magampura Port Employees’ Union said , that 9th day the sathyakgraha would be in force today till a decision about it is taken.
Union chairman I. K. Omesh said, the final decision as to whether the sathyakgraha would continue will be announced at 12 noon today.
