Postal Department Workers Poised to Strike

Sri Lanka Postal Department workers have planned  an island wide strike from 19^th midnight Monday  to 21^st Wednesday. The normal   operations of many post offices are expected to be paralyzed as a result of this  trade union action.

Planned  trade union action is launched based on 7 demands. Trade Union claimed that the  Government is undertaking  a suicidal journey on Postal Department.

As the result  19 , 000 employees job  is at risk. Demands includes salary anomalies, opening of head office on an accelerated basis, filling of vacancies in the Department and workers charted.  Based on these  demands  strike will be launched, Co-convener of the Joint Postal Trade Union Front Chinthaka Bandara, said.
